Faux Metal Masculine Cards

Tell a special guy in your life that you love them with one of these faux metal masculine cards. Here you will see two ways to get a think, shiny element to add to your cards for the guys.

First Sample

Begin by choosing a favorite die and cut three pieces. There are several ways you can adhere them together. I like to sponge Multipurpose Glue on the back so that it is spread thinly and evenly without oozing out the sides if the die cut has delicate lines like in this first sample. Or you can sponge glue on a silicone mat and press your die cut into the glue. By using glue, you have a few seconds of “wiggle room” to be able to adjust the layers so that they line up perfectly. Attaching adhesive sheets to your card stock before die cutting would be another way to go. Just be very careful when you put your layers together. That adhesive is strong and you won’t be able to fix it if you don’t line it up well.

This card uses dies from the Stampin’ Up! Well Written die cut set. This set coordinates with the Well Said stamp set if you are looking for more options of words for your card. Use either one alone or in combination!

Once your die cuts are adhered together, cover them VeraMark and silver or gold embossing powder and heat set. Do this step a total of three times for a really thick look as seen in the photo above. This can be done in white or black embossing powder for a more enamel look.

Adhere these to your card. This card uses Basic Black and Crumb Cake card stock which was speckled by flicking the tip of my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker on the marker cap. The smaller black rectangle is embossed with my favorite “go-to” embossing folder, Tasteful Textile. It is perfect for any card, not just masculine ones! You will see that it is also used on the next card on the Crumb Cake layer, and on the third sample behind the globe image.

Second Sample

This faux metal masculine card uses Postage Stamp Punched rectangles were punched from the Basic Black layer of the first sample card. Since this area isn’t seen, don’t miss the opportunity to make the most of your card stock! Punch or die cut something from there and put it aside for another project. Words are from the Well Said stamp set and were hand cut in a random shape. Black embellishments are actually retired, but there are several substitutes that can be used, such as the Matte Black Dots (page 11 of the Jan-June Mini Catalog), or Metallic Pearls from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.

Third Sample

There is another method of getting a faux metal look for your masculine cards. The globe above was done by pressing the stamp into a third layer of warm embossing powder! Press your VersaMark pad directly to card stock slightly larger than the image you wish to use. Cover with embossing powder and heat set. Do this two more times, but just before the third time, tap your stamp onto the VersaMark pad and have it ready to immediately press it into the third layer of embossing while it is still warm. Hold it for a few seconds until it is cool to the touch. Gently lift stamp and see the impression it made! Awesome!

The globe was then punched out with a 2″ circle punch. The globe and sentiment come from the Beautiful World stamp set. The sentiment is embossed normally. Colors used are Mossy Meadow, Cinnamon Cider, Basic Black and Very Vanilla for the inside. Designer Series Paper is from the World of Good Specialty collection. The Triple Banner punch was used for the sentiment strip.
