Split Card Technique

Stamp Once, Get Two Cards!

These two great cards were actually stamped on one sheet of paper then split in half! Using the Forever Ferns stamp set from the new annual catalog, simply stamp a collage of greenery in the middle of a 5-1/4″ x 8″ sheet of Whisper White card stock. You might want to lightly mark the halfway point with a pencil or a very light score mark on the top and bottom. I like to use the thick lines on my grid paper as a guide. Do whatever works best for you!

Ink colors used were Shaded Spruce, Garden Green, Old Olive and Pear Pizzaz. Next, split the card stock in half, straight through the middle of the images.

Add your sentiment (I used Memento Black) and layer these pieces onto your card base (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ and folded in half). Keep it simple like the card on the right, or add some embellishments, as on the card on the left. Here I added Gold Metallic Pearls and also stamped the sentiment on a small piece of Whisper White card stock and punched out with the Classic Label punch. I wanted this raised a little to add dimension, but felt the Mini Dimensionals were a bit too thick for the small punch. Instead, I used a double thickness of Mini Glue Dots! This gave me just the amount I needed. If you notice, on the left card I also added some light speckles (also from the Forever Fern stamp set), stamped in Gray Granite. This softens the white space just a bit. Don’t you love how the white-on-white creates a clean, fresh look?

Try mounting your stamped layer on colored card stock as in the examples below for a totally different look!
