Dream About Summer Adventures As You Create This Card!
Whether you like to go sailing or just sit and watch the boats lazily go by, you can’t help but think of summer with this card. The Let’s Set Sail stamp set and coordinating punch are the star of the show here. Buy them individually or as a bundle. A little masking trick for the clouds and some torn paper for the waves add some interesting elements and texture to the card. Complete with a banner, baker’s twine and the sailboat raised on dimensionals, and your card is ready to please anyone!
Begin with these products found in the Stampin’ Up! 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. Let’s Set Sail stamp set and Sailboat Builder Punch coordinate so you can stamp your sailboat parts and punch them out. Or, use the punch with plain cardstock for a more simple looking sailboat image.
The Cloud Punch is sold individually and is used here as a tool for making the background cloud images. You will also need Blending Brushes and two light blue ink pads. I used Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana. Pool Party works well too. Here’s how it’s done:
Using the punched cloud as a mask, hold it slightly below the top of your cardstock. Brush the ink with light swirling motions over the top of the cloud and onto the cardstock layer. Move the cloud across the cardstock in increments, slightly repositioning the cloud to get variations in the lines. You can also rotate or flip the cloud over to vary the shapes. Continue inking across the cardstock piece.
Start another row in the same manner as the first. Don’t worry if you blend some ink over the first layer, this only creates variations in tones, which can work well for you!
Continue with a few more rows, changing color part way to create more variation in your sky.
