You will be able to create these easy oval pop-up cards in a short amount of time. Not only that, but they will look so impressive, as if you spent much more time making them! A bonus is you don’t even need much in the way of materials or cutting. This card has been so popular that I don’t even know to whom I should give credit for design. I sure do thank those who have shared, as this is one of my favorites now!
This first card was made for my friend and neighbor who just lost her father. She loves bluebirds, so I knew right away that I wanted to use the Birds and Branches stamp set and coordinating dies. This set and dies will be carrying over to the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, which makes me very happy! It is so lovely and works for many different occasions. Colors are Basic White and Balmy Blue (to match the eggs). The white tone-on-tone DSP, however, is a retired item.
More Variations
Next are cards that use the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle. This was sold as an early-release item prior to the official start of the new catalog. It is available for purchase as of May 4th, 2021. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) was offered while supplies last and is not in the new catalog. Unfortunately it is no longer available, but there are so may new beautiful designs to choose from in the new catalog!
The butterfly was die cut from the coordinating DSP. The ovals were cut with the two largest dies from the the Stitched Shapes dies. Sentiment is from the Butterfly Gala stamp set which will not be available after May 4th. Cardstock is Basic White and Bermuda Bay.
Here is a similar card with a more subtle DSP pattern, and a die cut butterfly. The detailed white die cut is layered on a solid cardstock die cut. Because this fluttery friend is quite large, it had to be attached on an angle so that it would fit through the oval when the card is opened. This card was left plain without a sentiment for now so it can be used for any occasion later on. I will simply add a label to the front and write on the inside.
Magenta Madness cardstock and two butterflies on the front really make this version pop! As with the large butterfly above, just make sure that whatever you put on the white oval fits through the opening. The small butterfly on the inside adds a little something special as well. This was die cut and adhered down far enough in the corner so that the oval die cut doesn’t hit it and catch when the card is closed.

Finally, a last version of these easy oval pop-up cards features punched balloons as it’s focal point. Sadly, the Balloon Bouquet punch will not carry over to the new annual catalog, and inventory of it has run out. Therefore, it is no longer available. But don’t worry…. there will be plenty of new punches and die cuts in the new catalog with will work wonderfully with this style card! Flowers, cat, snowman, ice cream cone, whale, dragonfly….. and more! The cardstock and DSP used below are older retired products, but you can see how this design works with a variety of patterns and themes. Hopefully you will try your hand at some!
